Spread over many years and places, this is us doing what we've talked about forever. We don't like to call it retirement, we're just taking our long overdue gap years.

Keep To The Left
After driving on the Continent for almost seven months, it was a bit strange moving back to the left/right/wrong side of the road. Especially as when you leave the Channel Tunnel train, you immediately drive onto the motorway. No customs, immigration, checks........
It took us 17 days to travel the length of the UK. The weekend with our friends Bill, Lynda and Lyn was as crazy as expected and we look forward to more of that in January.
Next it was onto my dad's and spending some quality time with him and the rest of the family. Time passes so quickly and non of us are getting any younger, so it is always time well spent.
Easter was taken in Yorkshire, with friends who moved there from Orkney. We didn't appreciate just how beautiful that part of the UK is. There are some lovely towns and cities and the countryside goes on for ever.
Note to self.........really need to spend a bit more time exploring the UK when we have the time and the weather!!!!!
Next was a stopover in Central Scotland to meet up with pals from 25 years ago. It was amazing how, after so many years of not being in touch, the friendship that we had was still as strong. A lovely evening of memories and laughter and tears.
Then after a night in the Highland capital of Inverness, we were home.
Wow! The first Spottycatz Road Trip was finished. We've learned so much and done far more than we ever planned.
Most of all, we've found ourselves and realised what is important in our lives.
Bring on the next one!
