A Pearl in Negril

In the end, it was a no-brainer. This whole trip had been structured around music, sunshine, turtles and having a great time, so as our 30th approached, knowing where to be on the day of the deed became more and more obvious.

So HELLO again Negril!

This was the first place we had holidayed when we started traveling all those years ago and although we have been back many times, it was fitting that we celebrated our anniversary here.

I don't have to explain Negril to many of our friends, but for those that aren't in the loop, 'once you go, you know'! It's the kinda place that everyone's the same, home is forgotten, jobs don't matter, the vibe is everything. It's a place where you can find your self again.

In previous visits, we had always arrived in mid to late April, just as the prices drop for the 'off' season. We know how it will be, the weather, the people, the bars, the place. But going at the end of August, new stuff! Jamaica is so seasonal and the hurricane season can be dodgy at the best of times, so almost everything this time would be different.

We stayed at White Sands on the beach. Never been here before either, but it is in the middle of our favourite bit of 7mile and the price was so good.

It rains in the afternoon, storms really. Loads of thunder and lightening, but then again, our trip, once we hit Memphis area, has been fraught with storms. Almost every day we can hear, see or experience a thunderstorm. So Negril was just another place along the storm belt. But before and after the storms is when the sun shines and the place smiles.

It was empty! Negril was empty. It took us back to when we first came here in the 80's and there wasn't much here. There weren't many people then either and here we were again. Long story short, we loved it? As much as our usual visit time can be bouncing, the beach in the quiet was wonderful.

We've met some great new people, time will tell if they become friends, but we shared a lot of fun times and our 30th was the best we could hope.
Dinner at Rock House at the Table on the Rock. Legendary in its setting, we had a wonderful evening and gazing at the sunset in one of the best places on earth will never be forgotten.

Jake broke her mirror! She's had it for ever. Dropped on the tile floor, million pieces.....never broke a mirror since we've been together. Then the camera broke! Sand in the machine, one of those 'must've fallen off the bar' moments I suppose. Bit of bad luck really..............

Some reminders of the week.

Bought this painting from the young lad.

After the storm.

A wonderful week, over too soon, but we're ready to get back on the road. Rested and ready. Back to Florida and down to the Keys eventually.

Thank you Negril, soon come!
