A couple of views from our hotel window on the sixth floor.
Leaving Deerfield we slowly drove down through some of the wealthiest areas (in the world). Ocean Boulevard is an amazing stretch of road. It goes through Palm Beach and West Palm Beach which is home to some of the most amazing houses we have ever seen. In some cases, the gate house at the front of the property was larger than a five bedroomed detached house. God knows how big the mansions were at the back of the grounds. This place was along here somewhere. http://www.businessinsider.com/le-palais-florida-mansion-for-saale-2014-9
We decided to make Key Largo our first stop on the Keys and we found a small motel facing the sunset. We were greeted by several of the residents of this homely little place.
A two minute stroll brought us to Snooks, a wonderful bar restaurant where we watched the sun go down, whilst listening to a one man Southern Rock band playing all the standards.
Jake even sang with him in front of the massed diners and drinkers. 'Have you ever seen the Rain', done Orkney stylie with tambourine accompaniment. Amazing what wine and Jim Beam will do.
The sun set and glorious it was.
Our motel from Snooks.
Even had a supermoon to finish the night off.
A wonderful evening all round. We are blessed indeed to find such places to rest our bones on this wonderful journey. Finally we get to go to the Southernmost point of the USA, Key West.
